Modal viscose
Modal viscose is a type of fabric made from a blend of modal and viscose fibers. Modal is a semi-synthetic cellulose fiber made by spinning reconstituted cellulose, usually from beech trees, while viscose (or viscose rayon) is also a regenerated cellulose fiber made from wood pulp. The combination of these fibers results in a fabric that inherits the desirable properties of both modal and viscose.
Properties
- Softness: Modal viscose fabric is known for its exceptional softness, often compared to silk or cashmere. This makes it incredibly comfortable to wear, with a luxurious feel against the skin.
- Breathability: Like both modal and viscose fibers, modal viscose fabric is highly breathable, making it ideal for clothing worn in warm weather.
- Drape: The fabric has excellent drape and fluidity, allowing garments to hang elegantly and move gracefully with the body.
- Durability: Despite its softness, modal viscose fabric is relatively durable and can withstand regular wear and washing.
- Absorbency: Modal viscose has good moisture-wicking properties, making it suitable for activewear and clothing that needs to keep the wearer dry.
