Corduroy Fabric
Corduroy is a textile composed of twisted fibers that, when woven, lie parallel (similar to twill) to one another to form the cloth’s distinct pattern, a “cord.” The width of the cord is commonly referred to as the size of the “wale,” which indicates the number of ridges per inch. Corduroy is a versatile textile characterized by vertical ribbing, or “cords,” which run parallel to each other. These ribs are formed by weaving extra sets of fiber into the fabric, creating a distinctive texture. Corduroy can be made from various materials, including cotton, polyester, and blends of these fibers.
